Our Technology
The
That allows an inspector in the field in Key Largo to transmit information to desk of a Supervisor in
State of the Art
We use 5 state of the art servers to host custom enterprise systems and store gigabytes of data to be used for management and analysis. Systems from Microsoft, Oracle, and Clarke Mosquito Control combine to form our management information system.
We utilized state of the art desktops computers, personal data assistants (PDA’s), in combination with GPS satellites based tracking systems, precision aerial spraying systems. Our Information Management Technology combines all facets of our operations to allow Management to apply the minimum amount of chemicals to our sensitive environment and track and monitor the potential for an outbreak of a serious mosquito borne disease.
OFFICES: Key West, Marathon, and Key Largo are all connected to a secure wide area network, with extensive security and back-up systems to maintain our operations and restore them quickly after a storm.
STAFF: Our well trained staff is equipped in the office, in the field, in the fogging trucks, or in our airplanes and helicopters with the best technology and systems that are available to control mosquitoes. Our employees are trained to utilize state of the art GPS satellite based location and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist in their inspections and treatment activities. FKMCD Management has complete visibility of all field activities at all time's day or night.
EQUIPMENT: We utilize an Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) system to track and monitor our 60 vehicles as they routinely inspect and spray areas from Key Largo to Key West. Our Inspectors use PDA's to record every inspection and treatment applied. The data is available through wireless data communications in near real time to the decision makers.
SYSTEMS: Our Enterprise systems ride on a redundant server backbone equipped with the latest data base technology from Oracle and Environmental Systems Research Inc. (ESRI) state of the art GIS. Clarke Mosquito Control maintains our enterprise inspection and treatment software Vector Control Management System (VCMS).

VCMS Data Staging Area
Our VCMS database records all the information regarding our collections, treatment and inspections for mosquito control. We can identify chronic problem areas, dangerous potential health issues such as type of mosquito vector that can carry Yellow Fever or West Nile Virus. We document and treat hundreds of specific sites in the Keys. Historic records for locations and treatments are available for the past 8 years. We use this stored information to help manage our mosquito control activities.
The Count Station Report
Every morning 25 of our inspectors visit 258 specific locations from Key Largo to Key West. They take readings of mosquito populations, rainfall, and in some cases environmental data.
VCMS Format
The data needed to be collected and distributed much quicker to allow planning for nightly fogging and the next day's aerial spray missions. Data is now collected electronically and transmitted back to our servers before 9 AM and displayed in our systems across the data network in spread sheet form or graphically presented in GIS format. The entire Management team has better access to highly volatile daily information and can make smarter decisions and act more efficiently.

GPS Location Information
Our Inspectors are equipped with satellite based Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. We have over 19000 locations currently stored in our database that include latitude and longitude location information as accurate as 1 meter. The locations can be analyzed, sorted and displayed in almost any format, and allow our staff to make better management decisions and apply our resources more efficiently.
