FL Keys Mosquito Control Commissioner, District 5

Bette Brown was appointed to the Mosquito Control Board following the death of District 5 commissioner, Tom McDonald, and has served as the Board treasurer for the past two years. She brings a strong financial background to the Board with more than forty years of banking experience.

Education: BA degree from Stetson University and Stonier Graduate School of Banking. 

Current community involvement: Board, Upper Keys Rotary Club; Chair, Mariners Hospital Operating Board; Board, MarrVelous Pet Rescue. 

Past involvement: 2014-2022 Board of Governors of Citizens Insurance, when insurance rates were held steady for three years; Florida 16th Judicial District Nominating Committee (1999-2003); past President/founding Secretary of the Key Largo Rotary Club; past Board Chair, Key Largo Chamber of Commerce; past Board, Islamorada Chamber of Commerce; past Treasurer and Board member of the Florida Keys Children's Shelter; Founding Board member, Good Health Clinic.
