Education Program

The Florida Keys Mosquito Control District's Education Program provides comprehensive curriculum to students throughout Monroe County through classroom lessons, homeschool sessions, and community events. All of these programs are aligned with Sunshine State Education Standards.  See below the breakdown of our offerings.

In-Classroom Programming 

FKMCD’s Classroom Lessons bring mosquito science directly to students throughout Monroe County Schools. Every lesson is aligned with Sunshine State Education Standards and includes a brief presentation followed by a hands-on activity. While grade levels are suggested, lessons can be adapted to fit any classroom and are designed to build on one another as students progress year after year. There is no cost to participate in this program.

Homeschool Programming 

FKMCD works with homeschool students throughout the Florida Keys to provide classroom lessons, science labs and experiments, and field trips. Homeschool sessions are held throughout the Florida Keys and are mostly provided on a request basis. Homeschool sessions will be promoted via our website and social media to invite all homeschoolers to participate.

Community Programming 

FKMCD participates in community events to provide programming for summer camps, career days, school STEM nights, STEM Fair, and more!
